Aus den Fugen is a study of the musical form of the fugue and how our memories and stories are interwoven in our lives in fugue-like patterns. It questions the power of our patterned thoughts exerted through our present choices and what happens when we let go of the power of the past and repeated cycles. "All processes in the Universe are cyclical, and recurrence is a deep theme underlying all order. The fugue is the only musical form which is wholly based upon recurrence as a necessity of its structure and essence." "Within the confines of the tightest classical form, the unconscious speaks, the unpredictable happens. It is the cosmos in miniature. Recurrent phenomena interact and interweave. We are fugues, our lives are fugues."
